Linux Administrator for Automation Salary

 linux salary I suppose new means a fresher. I haven't seen freshers assigned jobs like Linux Administrators so far. Very few which counts very less in numbers. So writing about general freshers wiling to become Linux Administrators.

I started working with Red Hat as an intern in Global Support Services. There I was getting stipend which was enough to be happy as a fresher with the joy of working in such a great organization, my internship lasted for 6 months and then I was offered an Payroll Job in Red Hat itself. The salary offered at that time exceeded my expectations :D Yes!

I work in Global Support Services where I need to support the clients of Red Hat and resolve their queries and troubleshoot the problems. The life is good as well as challenging everyday. Here are some points which can highlight what I did and do everyday.

Internship:

1. The Internship stipend ranges from 10k to 15k INR depending upon the organization offering. The range is what Red Hat offers.
2. Support jobs are the most offered positions for the freshers looking for the Linux Administration offers.
3. At least in Red Hat, freshers are offered internship positions in both Platform and Middleware teams. Pre-requisites are Good Knowledge of Java for Middleware Internship position and RHCE for Platform Internship position. Certification with Knowledge I mean to say here!
4. In the internship period, the extensive trainings are given, both classroom and on-floor trainings. During the whole training period, number of tests get assigned and individuals appearing through this program have to meet the Goals.
5. Once passed in all tests and trainings, Red Hat offers the payroll jobs with respect to the availability of open positions.

Payroll:
1. The salary offered nowadays ranges from 400k to 500k INR P.A. for the Engineers coming on payroll through Internship.
2. The payroll employee gets lots of benefits and perks as per offered.

3. As per contract/offer letter, one has to work for 8 hours a day excluding 1 hour for lunch with weekends Saturday/Sunday off for rest! - usual policy like other Organizations.
4. Rotating Shifts with Shift allowances.

After working through such environment, one can then move forward to Linux Administrator jobs or continue doing Support Engineering. The skill set required for Linux Administrator are really different from Support Engineer but those can be developed during the day to day work in Red Hat. Here inside, I feel much happy to work with great talents. We have access to different hardware available and so many set-ups resembling to client environment for troubleshooting. So the pathways are clear. I chose this way because I felt it great.

Experienced with 1/2 years in Linux Administration or Support, one can easily get 500k INR P.A. in many organizations and it gets increasing a lot as time lapses with respect to increase in knowledge and Experience.
